Best Garden Competition
Robina Turner writes:
Interest in the Best Garden Competition is on the increase
although looking around the village,
there are many more gardens that would more than justify an entry.
After our experience of the first two years we are still trying to adjust the marking
to make it more appropriate.
We would like to make it open to those who garden as a full time hobby
as well as the fine-weekend enthusiasts who want somewhere to relax and enjoy
sundowners and barbecues.
The important thing is to have a general idea of your particular requirements
and what you are doing to achieve them.
It does not matter whether you go in for immaculately edged borders
or the casual look so long as the overall effect, choice and arrangement of plants
and standard of care is bringing about your desired result.
So why not have a go?
Entry forms will be in the village shops in June
and judging will take place in late June or early July.
Photographs of all the gardens will be on display at the Hurst Horticultural Show
so you will have the opportunity to bask in glory even if you do not win.
