PARISH COUNCIL SUPPORTS YOUNG PEOPLE

Hurst Parish Council is supporting eight visits of the Jac Van during the summer. This follows the well-supported and highly successful visits of the Jac Van on two occasions during the Easter holidays. The summer visits have yet to be finalised, and dates will be posted on the Parish Council notice boards, writes Parish Council chairman Jan Martin.

A special meeting for the young people of Hurst will take place on Wednesday 27 June at 7.30pm in the Village Hall Committee Room when the Jac Van visits and the prospect of a skateboard park and youth shelter will all be discussed. Please come along and have your say.

A group of young people from Winnersh and Hurst have raised a petition requesting the provision of a skateboard park in the Hurst/Winnersh area. This petition was presented to Councillor Annette Drake and a meeting has been held with Hurst and Winnersh councillors who are sympathetic to this proposal.

The petition was submitted to Wokingham District Council's environmental services meeting, and will be considered as part of as strategic leisure plan. We must now await their report. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions with regard to a suitable site, please make them known to me (934 xxxx) or Annette Drake.
