Cinderella Hurst's First Panto is a Sell Out

If you haven't already got your tickets for Cinderella, the chances are you'll have to persuade someone to sell you theirs!

Hurst's first pantomime is a sell out, and an extra performance - Thursday 16 January at 7.30pm - has been put on by public demand. By the middle of November, the Saturday performances had sold out, and Jo Penney recognised that they would need to have a Thursday performance too.

Directors Kate Caton and Dorinda Palikeras have been rehearsing the cast of 40 people for months. Children and adults have been learning their lines, practising their singing and dancing, and getting ready for the show from 16 to 18 January.

Among the stars of the show

Many people among the cast have not taken part in village community activities before. They now find themselves treading the boards alongside the 'regular suspects', including the village's own 'Jolly Green Giant' - Chris James - who, as one of the Ugly Sisters will be wearing size 15 stilettos, and HuMP - Hurst Morris Group.

"This is a real pantomime, with lots of 'behind you!' and sweets, and plenty of opportunity for the audience to get involved," says Jo Penney. "The carriage is a sight to behold."

Fund-raising to pay for hire of the village hall for rehearsals, costumes and music licence included the successful Race Night in November, which raised £1,845.

Rita Bunyard is selling tickets at £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for children. Call her on 0118 934 xxxx in case she has any returns, and to book seats for the Thursday performance.
