HVS Dinner Dance: An undoubted success

Rumour has it at least one pair of trousers was split and one hangover resulted in a crawl out of bed at 6pm the next day!

Santa, accompanied by Rudolph, hovered in the star-lit sky all night; baubles and candles twinkled; festive greenery festooned and the voices chatted, laughed, giggled and sang, writes Val Bowman.

Many thanks are due, in no specific order, to: Sue Scorer for her dynamic disco; Penny Curry for her fabulous food; Henry Stephenson and Matthew Whitehead for their brilliant bar tending; Sheila Whittaker and Janet Spiller for the delightful decorations; Chris Bowman and Bruce Spiller (non HVS committee members!) for their essential and exceptional electrics plus other members of the committee for their dutiful, dogsbody diligence.

The next day’s clear up was hard work and all help was much appreciated. It is good to know there are some who recognise that, as with most events which happen in the village, the organisers are unpaid volunteers, invariably working very hard to raise funds to support Hurst life in ways which are deemed to benefit very many, if not all.

So, repair those trousers, sort out the hangover cures and we look forward to seeing you this year on Saturday 6 December for the next Dinner Dance. Dedicate the date in your diary directly!
