Latest News on School Road Development

Plans to develop 25 new dwellings in School Road by Millgate Homes are on hold for the time being while the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol decides on a written appeal by the developers against Wokingham Unitary Authority’s non-determination of their original application.

On 11 December the Development Control committee of Wokingham Unitary Authority refused Millgate Homes’ application for 25 new dwellings on the grounds of un-sustainability. The committee agreed that the location does not have enough facilities and services to sustain such a significant size of development.

Millgate Homes had already lodged an appeal against the Council’s non-determination of the application within a reasonable period of time, and this is now being considered on written evidence. In the meantime, the developer has submitted a duplicate and identical application for 25 new dwellings on the site. HVS has objected to this application, and Wokingham Unitary Authority has yet to consider it.
