More facilities for young people in Hurst

A mobile trailer unit fully equipped with record decks, IT, internet and recording equipment could be available to young people in Hurst from February next year.

Youth worker Leigh Middleton and his colleagues are already spending part of each Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings in Hurst, and three adjacent parishes, to meet children and young adults and help them find activities that interest them.

"In the long term, we would like to open a Youth Club in Hurst, and we will need volunteers to help us do that," said Leigh Middleton. "The trailer unit can be used anywhere because it will be equipped with a generator. We will try to park it up in an area where young people gather and it can be used on a regular basis."

The street youth workers and the trailer are funded by Wokingham District Council with contributions from Hurst Parish Council. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help with the trailer unit or a youth club can contact Leigh via e-mail.
